Thanx Laura... CRC was a passion project for Dave and myself. And like many things in life, we were lucky with the timing of CRC being published in 1995 when kayaking seemed to really start growing with kayak's evolving plastic technology. As for the graphic design and layout, I was working at Quark Inc. and had access to desktop publishing software way before most other guidebook writers. CRC was one of the first guidebooks self-published; allowing us to be independent from the publishing industry and which I felt was going to change with the soon to come desktop publishing revolution. There is nothing more satisfying than to control your project's quality from start to finish.
As the run-off will be dismal this season, I may need to get a copy of your new Disc Golf guide. Good luck with your new book.

I learned to kayak in 1998 when CRC 1 was out of print and jealously coveted by all my kayaker friends. I couldn't even get anyone to sell me one for $100! I have CRC II and have always been impressed, especially with the graphic design and layout. My husband and I have written two small guide books, one for rock climbing in Summit County, and we just sent The Colorado Disc Golf Guide off to the publisher. That was a huge project and we did our best, but I have a new admiration for your layout and graphic design. You are in a different league of guide book than I have yet to see, and I can't believe you accomplished such quality with the software available in 1998. I remain a greatful fan of your book. Thank you for your hard work.

Sincerely,

Laura Karden
