I am not much of an iPhone Apps reviewer but these apps are my current favorites. Many are helpful while traveling.
iPhone 3GS 16GB model, firmware 3.1.2, unlocked*, and jailbroken**.

Google Voice** – While on vacation, forward your calls to Google Voice and listen to your voicemails or read them transcribed in GMail
Google Maps – See traffic problems in the metro area
PDA Net** – Tethering. Make your iphone your laptop’s internet router
Changeout your SIM card: Get a prepaid SIM (cheap), to avoid International roaming charges while travelling abroad*.
Byki – Learn spanish. Below is Byki’s Twitter panel, which shows Twitter conversations of Flash card words you are currently studying
GPS. Your iphone is currently in the blue circle, hopefully on you.
Ocarina:your iPhone becomes a musical instrument and you listen to other players around the world. The realtime world view is awesome.
Pandora Radio. Be your own streaming radio disc jockey.
Kayak.com – The best airline ticket consolidator
Air Sharing – Copying and viewing files from your desktop. Hi-rez map content shown below, hi rez not possible with Apple’s Photos app
Tweetdeck – bring your online social networks together (Facebook Column shown)
Paypal – Pay people and minimize international Visa fees
Kobo – ebook reader, beautiful interface design, iPad version even better
iFlix: you can control the Netflix queue, no more chick flicks coming home.
NYT: hardcopy cost; $5, mobile copy cost; $0 and always available.
Google Translate. Can you fix my iPhone amigo?
Pano – makes panorama shots from your iphone camera
Dragon Dictation – your audio to text, very accurate
WifiTrak. A better wifi finder. The top listed network is open with the strongest signal. Better than Apple’s Settings.
Google Earth is kewl, so why not on your phone? Teton Pass, Glory Bowl
Avalanche and ski conditions. Everything normal in NSJ
River Flows: Thanx to Chris W. for porting river flows to the iphone.
Shazam listens to music and tells you the artist, then you can buy it at iTunes Store. Instant gratification.
The iphone is very WordPress compatible. Here is your blog and you can also update your blog from iPhone.
Skype: VoIP for the iphone. Wifi only.
iPhone IMAP GMail: Synched your inbox everywhere; Mac/PC, iphone, web mail.
Amazon Kindle for iPhone. Surprisingly readable, better than Apple’s ebook prices
